Dr. James Eagar

50% of adults will experience an injury every calendar year

Dr. James Eagar is Director of Sports Medicine for The Training Room, as well as, Co-founder of the gym.

Dr. James Eagar grew up in Boston before moving out west to attend Brigham Young University where he received degrees in Exercise Science and Athletic Training (Sports Medicine). After completing his 2 years of clinical rotations with BYU, Lehi High School, and Timpview High School he took a position as Head Athletic Trainer with BYU Men’s Rugby where they made their first appearance in the Men’s Collegiate Rugby National Championship.

Dr. Eagar left BYU to pursue his career doing on-site sports medicine for Boeing in Washington state. At Boeing, Dr. Eagar helped create and develop the Industrial Athlete Program which succeeded in reducing lost work days and workers’ compensation claims by 70% and was then rolled out nationwide in all Boeing facilities. Dr. Eagar turned down a position overseeing the entire program to obtain a doctorate from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon.

After completing his doctorate, Dr. Eagar returned to Utah where he opened his own private practice and served as a team physician for BYU Dance and Utah Valley University Men’s Rugby (who also went to their first national championship at the 1AA level before moving up to 1A and being ranked in the top 10 nationally). After meeting Mike Andam and Brian Hall they decided to open The Training Room with the goal of bringing the same high quality healthcare principles into the health and wellness world.

Dr. Eagar is extremely passionate about evidence based practice and improving patient focused healthcare. When he is not trying to change the healthcare world, he spends all his free time with his wife and four children who he loves watching grow and succeed in all their endeavors.
